Durango, Colorado is a town full of beauty, history, and adventure—but experiencing it like a local takes more than a quick Google search. That’s why, this summer, I’m stepping away from real estate news for a moment to share something I’ve been working on behind the scenes for over a year: a comprehensive Durango Must-Do Guide.
With the help of my executive assistant and intern from this past semester, I finally brought this vision to life. This guide was created for locals, newcomers, and visitors alike—a curated collection of favorite hikes, scenic drives, hidden gems, family-friendly activities, and local dining spots that make Southwest Colorado so special.
What Makes This Guide Different?
Unlike traditional travel brochures or top-10 lists, this guide is built from lived experience. It’s the spots I recommend to clients moving to the area, the go-to trails I send visiting friends to explore, and the local businesses I personally support.
Inside, you’ll find:
-
Outdoor escapes for every level—from leisurely riverside strolls to alpine hikes with jaw-dropping views
-
Where to eat and drink, including some of my favorite low-key spots and community staples
-
Family-friendly attractions that make entertaining visitors easy and enjoyable
-
Hidden gems and day-trip suggestions that go beyond the obvious
-
Plus: seasonal ideas, small-town events, and the kind of details only locals know

Why I Created It
This guide started as a personal side project—a way to help new clients and curious travelers experience Durango with more intention. But over time, it evolved into something more collaborative. It became a way to reflect what makes this town so vibrant through the lens of those who live here.
Durango is more than just a beautiful backdrop for weekend trips. It’s a place where people hike before work, gather downtown for local events, and know which trailhead to hit when the tourists show up. I wanted this guide to capture that balance—between adventure and community, exploration and belonging.
What’s Next
Throughout the summer, I’ll be highlighting sections of the guide in more detail—sharing behind-the-scenes stories, personal favorites, and interviews with other community members to get their take on what’s missing.
This is meant to be a living guide, shaped by those who love this region as much as I do. If there’s a favorite spot or experience you think should be included, I’d love to hear it.
